A report is only as useful as its context

Source information explains where a record came from and why the organization may use it. ArmorX’s retained foundation separates source registration, supplied reports and corroborating observations. That distinction gives a reviewer a clearer question to ask: is this new evidence, a repeated claim or a different interpretation of the same original information?

This explains the information model. Cross-product connections and live feeds have separate deployment requirements.

Register provenance and permitted use

The source-registration flow records a source name, type, independence group and authorization basis. The source catalogue accommodates categories such as AIS providers, imagery, registries, port records, media and field observations. A category in that form identifies the kind of material being supplied; it does not establish a live provider integration or a subscription to that data.

Preserve supplied reports as supplied

The current maritime workflow supports manually supplied AIS report JSON. The original submitted text is retained, while structured fields identify the vessel, observation time and position. Units and encoding need to match the submission format. Preserving the original lets a reviewer distinguish the source’s supplied information from later processing or interpretation.

AN ILLUSTRATIVE WORKFLOW

Three reports can still be one source

A provider supplies an AIS report, a second platform republishes it and a document quotes the second platform. The team now has three records, but they may share one origin. Record that relationship before treating the set as corroboration. A separately timed field observation could contribute different information, provided its source and uncertainty are stated. This is an illustrative explanation of source review, not a live vessel record.

Example for explanation · not a live incident or customer case

Record observations with their own uncertainty

A corroborating observation has its own source, observation time, position, uncertainty and summary of limitations. The time information matters: two positions recorded at different times may not describe the same event. Positional uncertainty matters too. A precise-looking coordinate is not a reason to ignore how the observation was obtained or the limits stated by its source.

Check whether the sources are independent

Several providers may reuse one upstream feed. In that case, the number of reports does not equal the number of independent observations. The retained independence-group field helps keep that relationship explicit. An empty group means independence has not been established. Analysts still need to explain which information supports the assessment and which parts remain uncertain.

CURRENT AVAILABILITY · AUTHORIZED PILOT

A clear scope for the actual deployment.

ArmorX is private-sector operations software. The retained foundation uses manually supplied information. Live feeds, expanded media/forensic integrations and connected XShield/Tactical handoffs require further implementation and verification. Public site access does not grant workspace permissions.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

ArmorX · Sources & reports
Explained.

Practical scope, access and next steps.

Does ArmorX automatically collect every source type?

No. Source categories describe manually registered material. They are not proof of active radar, satellite, registry or other external provider connections.

Why keep the original submitted report?

The original helps a reviewer understand what was actually supplied and distinguish it from later normalization, annotations and analyst conclusions.

What is a source independence group?

It identifies sources that share an origin. Repeated reporting from the same upstream information should not be counted as independent corroboration.

Can a timestamp be omitted?

Observation timing is central to the retained report and observation workflows. Discuss the actual source format and timestamp requirements for the intended deployment.
