1.  Data sandboxes are exclusively available on Pro and Enterprise plans (both self-hosted and on Metabase Cloud).


2. Data sandboxes empower you to grant precise permissions to rows and columns for distinct groups, ensuring controlled access to sensitive information.

How Data Sandboxes Work

Data sandboxes function by presenting a filtered version of a table to specific groups. It includes:

- The filtered version of a table replacing the original table across Metabase.

- The designated group of users authorized to access the filtered table.

Types of Data Sandboxes

1. Basic Sandbox (Filter by a Column in the Table)

2. Custom Sandbox (Use a Saved SQL Question)

Limitations

Ensure seamless sandboxing by considering the following limitations:

- Groups with native query permissions cannot be sandboxed.

- SQL questions and non-SQL databases cannot be sandboxed.

Prerequisites for Basic Sandboxes

- Define user attributes for each person in the group.

- Basic sandboxes display filtered tables based on user attributes.

- Define a group for the advanced data sandbox.

- Utilize an admin-only collection for saved SQL questions.
